I hope I like that one more. I think you'll be my guinea pig on that one though. ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-30994446237707780592013-04-09T18:55:04.390-04:002013-04-09T18:55:04.390-04:00Thanks Cindy! It sounds very interesting though, and I love re-tellings, so I will have to check this one out. Great review :)Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18107514255009554586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-25769168162651827212013-04-08T19:03:53.152-04:002013-04-08T19:03:53.152-04:00Ooh, I really like the idea of women as healers of...Ooh, I really like the idea of women as healers of more than simply physical wounds! That's a bit disappointing though that you feel like Alexandra's suffering is downplayed. Not that I like my protagonists to suffer, but suffering and personal sacrifice are obviously huge themes in The Wild Swans/The Six Swans. Oh well. Overall it sounds lovely. Obviously I have similar thoughts on fairy-tale retellings. I'm not sure anything can trump the retelling that Daughter of the Forest provides, but I still would love to check this book out at some point. After Mariott's Shadows on the Moon though, since I do actually own that book.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052456915027241479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-3331150997916316672013-04-07T11:01:40.590-04:002013-04-07T11:01:40.590-04:00Aw I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Shadows on t...Aw I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Shadows on the Moon more. I'll still give it a try, and I hope it exceeds my expectations though I'm not so sure anymore. And yes, DotF is hard to compete with. I loved that book so much! Thanks, Keertana! :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-25431504178972451912013-04-07T11:00:05.257-04:002013-04-07T11:00:05.257-04:00I'm glad you liked it too Mel! There's so many Cinderella retellings, but not as many for the The Wild Swans, so I was anxious to read this. I can't wait to read more by Marriott! :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-52306193286960394982013-04-06T12:55:57.080-04:002013-04-06T12:55:57.080-04:00I've heard a lot about this book, mostly that ...I've heard a lot about this book, mostly that it's evident how much Marriott has grown since this installment. I doubt I'll pick it up since Shadows on the Moon was only an okay read for me and after DotF, I know this won't be able to live up to any of my expectations, but I'm glad you still managed to like it. Great review, Courtney! :)Keertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-4984078764529158662013-04-06T12:20:08.294-04:002013-04-06T12:20:08.294-04:00I quite liked this book. It's great to see what an author does to the original story :) Alexandra wasn't such a bad character, I liked her development. I agree about the romance though, I wished the focus was on her trials and attempts.

Mel@thedailyprophecy.Mel@Thedailyprophecyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01516514938771433319noreply@blogger.com
