I felt the same conflicting feelings about Leonard, first frustration that he is so cynical, and then sympathy and even empathy as I understood what he was going through and felt so awful for him that his cries for help were going unnoticed. Herr Silverman was definitely my fave and Linda was THE WORST. I would have liked more closure in the end too, but overall I was really impressed with this one! My first Matthew Quick read, but it won't be my last.Ayleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07639250102446794830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-32279990364097902592014-07-09T00:16:01.632-04:002014-07-09T00:16:01.632-04:00Yay, I'm glad you ended up enjoying this one, ...Yay, I'm glad you ended up enjoying this one, Cort! I know that you had been excited to read it for quite some while beforehand. It definitely sounds like an intense read, but a powerful one. I really like the quotes you've showcased - there's a certain beauty in their starkness. :)<br />Lovely review!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052456915027241479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682866082765759474.post-80038624955763810642014-07-07T23:13:52.581-04:002014-07-07T23:13:52.581-04:00I'm glad you really appreciated this book, Cou...I'm glad you really appreciated this book, Courtney. I wanted a little bit more in some areas, as well, but this book was a pure powerhouse, just like you said. I couldn't help but fall under its spell. It's hard to leave these characters at not quiteee the edge of the cliff, but close enough, you know? But this book just gutted me in the feels and the amount it made me think was just...astounding. I haven't read any of Quick's other books yet, but they're all on my TBR and I need to get to them ASAP. Beautiful review, Courtney! :)Keertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.com
