2. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - Every once and awhile, I need a break from YA and I just want some adult fiction. Can you believe that there was a point in time where all I read was adult books? Ready Player One sounds like a nostalgic, genre-defying, AMAZING read! Just my type of book!
3. The Twelve by Justin Cronin - I constantly gush about the first installment of this series, The Passage, but The Twelve remains unread on my bookshelf. It's even a Goodreads Choice 2012 Winner! I need to just pick it up and dive in.
4. The Stand by Stephen King - Okay, I can do this. I believe this is the second TBR Top Ten List I've included this on, but it is still unread. This is unacceptable! I must get to reading this!
5. Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride - This book screams Courtney! A horrific yet humorous read about raising the dead for cash? Yup, I need to read this!
6. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - This series has received so many stunning reviews, and I cannot wait to read this! Besides, I'm always looking for more fantasy to read!
7. The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch - I will admit that I was attracted to this book for a superficial reason. I liked the purple in the cover. But I am so happy I stumbled upon this book because it is a must read for the future!5.
8. In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters - I've heard great things about this book, and I don't know why I haven't read it yet. It's sitting on my shelf right now. I definitely intend to read this sometime during the summer!
10. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima - I've been meaning to get to this series for some time because I'm sure it will become a new favorite. Someday, I know I will read this, and I'm hoping for this summer!
Half of these books I already have sitting on my shelf, just waiting to be cracked open. The other half I don't have in my possession, but I fully intend to purchase or borrow them in the future. The only problem is finding the time to read them...
Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts on these books? And what books do you plan to read over the summer? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I keep seeing The Lies of Locke Lamora around! I hope you enjoy all of your books!
ReplyDeletethanks! I hope so too!
DeleteThese are some great picks! I haven't decided yet what I will read this summer, however I know I absolutely need to read "The Passage" and "The Twelve" by Justin Cronin. They have been on my TBR list for quite a while. And "The Name of the Wind" also sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really hope you enjoy The Passage! it was sooooo good!
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these before but they look worth checking out. Thanks for sharing your list.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT: http://www.bookythoughtsandme.com/top-ten-books-at-the-top-of-my-summer-tbr-list/
You're welcome Olena!
DeleteNice list! I just got my copy of JOYLAND in - really thought I'd read it right away but I haven't had a chance! It should have been on my TTT to be honest but the top ten have been hanging around the TBR longer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Becky! I know what you mean! I need to find the time to actually read these! And I hope you enjoy Joyland :D
DeleteThe Stand AND The Twelve. Did you go looking for the thickest books you could find? Lol. I still really want to read Ready Player One, too, and I've heard great things about In the Shadow of Blackbirds. Great list!

Haha I know. These books are going to take me awhile, especially The Stand. Holy crap! :D What am I getting myself into? But I'm sure I'll love every page. Thanks Natalie!
DeleteI can't wait for a Joyland review!!!
ReplyDeleteI will not let you down! :D I can't wait to read it!
DeleteIn the Shadow of Blackbirds is an absolute favorite of mine, but I REALLY need to read Name of the Wind. I will hopefully get to it, along with GoT, this summer! *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteI need to read the GoT books too! I was actually going to include them on this list, but I'm not sure when I'll get to them. I just LOVE the show so much! And I cannot wait to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds! I'm glad you loved it :D
DeleteGreat Top 10! I loved House Of Leaves when I read it but it took me ages to get used to the writing :) You can't go wrong with a bit of Stephen King, probably about time for a Stand re-read!
ReplyDeleteMy Top 10 Tuesday!
The Name of the Wind is freaking amazing, I hope you enjoy it. The Lies of Locke Lamora is on my wishlist. I plan to do a fantasy/sci-fi challenge next year, so hopefully I'll get it soon.

I actually want to read Ready Player One as well! All the reviews have been super positive and it just sounds so different and interesting. And Name of the Wind! And The Demon King! You need to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds ASAP because I know you'll love it. Lots of great choices for summer reading, Cort!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list Courtney, I have a copy of In the Shadows of Blackbird too, there's been so many great reviews for it that I really can't wait to give it a try. Ready Player One has also been pushed to the top of my list with it's recent rave reviews. I hope you get to read a lot of these books over the Summer!
ReplyDeleteJoyland has popped up a few times so I guess I should check it out. I didn't realize King had a new book out. That is short for King, I agree. That's another reason.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on King many years ago after Pet Cemetery but I've made a decision to return to the fold. He's such a great writer and should be read. I did read Bag of Bones in the interim because I was curious as to his take on writing a ghost story. I know you can read The Stand. Go for it. :)
I need to read The Stand as well at some point. It is sad, by boyfriend is a huge Stephen King fan but I have only read 4 of his books. Great list here! Have a great Summer of reading!
ReplyDeleteHere is my post from Tuesday.
Aha, very good choices. I would love to be able to add them all onto my Summer TBR, but there's just NO way I could get to them all. How I would love to read The Passage and The Name of the Wind, but they're so chunky! And In The Shadow of Blackbirds has been on my mind since it first came out and everyone who reviewed it, loved it. I hope you can get to most, if not all, of these this summer, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to read Ready Player One for the longest time. It sounds really amazing and I've seen it around everywhere. In the Shadow of Blackbirds sounded really amazing too.
