In My Mailbox (17) - The Monstrumologist Series

Sunday, April 21, 2013 12:59 PM
In My Mailbox is hosted over at The Story Siren. In My Mailbox gives book bloggers the chance to showcase the books they've received over the past week.

Bought:
-The Monstrumologist
-The Curse of the Wendigo
-The Isle of Blood - all by Rick Yancey

I loved, LOVED The Monstrumologist, and my review will be coming soon! After finishing the first book in this horrific, blood-chilling series, I just had to immediately buy all the books that are out in this series. The Monstrumologist is basically Sherlock Holmes meets Supernatural. As of now, I am currently reading The Curse of the Wendigo, and it is just as suspenseful, thrilling and terrifying as The Monstrumologist. I have found a new favorite author, and I cannot wait for The 5th Wave's release!

What did everyone else receive this week?

    1. Thanks Mel! Especially when it's so unexpected and you didn't even see it coming!

  2. Yay! The more fans of the Monstrumologist series the better! I also bought all three books in the series after only reading the first one. It was just soooo good! You hit it exactly by saying it is a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Supernatural (even though i don't watch that show lol)! Once school is out in like 2 weeks I'll be reading the second and third books as well! The fourth and last book in the series comes out on September 10th!
Oh and if you have a tumblr, blog about the books some and tag them monstrumologist; we are desperately trying to grow the fandom!

    1. Yeah, and I definitely could see a little Fringe in this series too. I cannot wait for the final book! I'm almost done the second one, The Curse of the Wendigo, and then I'll immediately begin The Isle of Blood. I just cannot put these down! Unfortunately, I do not have a tumblr anymore. :( I used to have one but I don't anymore. But i will definitely recommend these books to as many people as will listen and rave about them on this blog! :D

    1. Not all of the books are out. The fourth and final book comes out in September, which is way too far away, but the other three have been released. I have been DEVOURING these books, and I highly recommend them to you. I hope you get to read these soon, Keertana! Thanks! :D

  4. This is SUCH an amazing series! The storylines are engrossing, but I keep coming back for more because of the desperate relationship between Dr. Warthrop and little Will Henry. They are both such enigmatic characters that simultaneously need and push each other away. It is SO fascinating to read! The Curse of the Wendigo showed this even more than the first book, and I am looking forward to reading the Isle of Blood and the conclusion in September. I am REALLy excited to see how Mr. Yancey does other characters and the 5th wave is one of my most anticipated releases! So glad you like his work as well!!

    1. I also love the complex relationship between Dr. Warthrop and Will Henry! These two need each other so much but they can't just come out and say it! Warthrop especially makes things difficult, but I can't help but love him. He seems cold but I can tell he loves Will Henry like a son. And yes, I am really excited to see how Yancey does aliens! I'm sure it will be just as suspenseful and creepy a read as The Monstrumologist series!

  5. They all sound really good, but I always have to be in a special mood to read a scary book.

  7. Oh YAY COURTNEY!! I've been a major fan of this series since last year so it's so nice to see new converts. I was actually part of the write-in campaign to get Simon & Schuster to publish the fourth (and final) book. When S&S decided they weren't going to publish the fourth book due to poor sales, another blogger and I set up this campaign because we were such huge fans. AND IT WORKED!! Probably the biggest deal of my blogging life. It was absolutely UNPRECEDENTED that the publisher decided to reverse their decision on this because it really is unheard of that they would un-cancel a series that they had already made their decision on. So it is thanks to people like you who go out to buy his books to support him that we are getting a fourth Monstrumologist book. THANK YOU!!!!

    1. I'm so happy you set up that campaign because that would have been AWFUL! I have fallen in love with this series, and I cannot wait for the fourth book. I don't know why I didn't read anything by Rick Yancey sooner! Thank you so much for putting the effort into making the fourth book happen!

    1. The wait for book 4 is killing me too, and it's only been a short while since I finished book 3. But then again, I'm in no hurry to finish this series. I like having a book to look forward to. :D
