The Book Blogger Confessions Tag

Wednesday, May 21, 2014 8:15 PM
I stumbled across this old tag that The Bookish Owl reposted, and I thought it'd be a fun post. I mean, who doesn't love answering questions about books? I will not be tagging other people, which kinda defeats the purpose, but oh well. I'm not really one for tagging others, especially since I have no idea if you actually want to be tagged, but if you'd like to post this on your own blog, go for it! Pass it along!

1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?
That would be Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris. I love David Sedaris and his dry humor, and his essays always manage to turn my bad day into a good one. But I guess I just wasn't in the mood for this one? I am a mood reader, and I was feeling more up for fantasy at the time. I will definitely return to this one and finish it sometime later.

2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?
So, I'm going to cheat, and answer this one with multiple books. I really enjoyed Obsidian and Onyx (Lux #1-2) by Jennifer Armentrout, mainly because of the romance. It takes some time for the love interest, Daemon, to grow on you since at first he's infuriating, but then he gets oh so much better. I'm ashamed to admit this series turned me into a squealing fangirl. I'll have to finish this series eventually. Also, I loved the first three books of the Mortal Instruments series, but I think it's gone downhill from there. Clare should have stuck with the original ending.

3. Which book do you love to hate?
Unfortunately, there are quite a few books I could answer this question with, but I'm going to pick The Selection by Kiera Cass. How is this a dystopia? She's basically in a beauty pageant from what I can tell.

4. Which book would you throw into the sea?
That would be a toss-up between If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin or A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. These books are complete opposites, but both of them made me consider book burning as a hobby for the first time ever.

5. Which book have you read the most?
Without a shadow of a doubt, Jane Eyre. I have even listened to the audio book!

6. Which book would you hate to receive as a present?
Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm not reading it, Mom! No matter how much you loved it, I refuse!

7. Which book could you not live without?
I'm cheating again and picking more than one book. I'd say the entire Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings series,  The Hobbit, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby and Wuthering Heights.

8. Which book made you the angriest?
The Giving Tree. I'm dead serious. That little boy is so selfish! That tree should have just slapped him in the face with a branch!

9. Which book made you cry the most?
Oh, there's so many! I'm a crying mess! The Book Thief, Night, Sarah's Key, The Kite Runner, A Monster Calls, The Fault in Our Stars...I can't handle all of the feels!

10. Which book cover do you hate the most?
This one's a toughie because there are so many bad covers out there, causing me to overlook amazing books because the cover is just godawful. I think the worst offender has to be Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. That whole series has the worst book covers ever. I can't speak to the quality of the book because I have yet to read it, but those covers have got to go.

What about you guys? What would your answers be? Do you agree/disagree with any of the above? Don't be afraid to let me know! I love discussing books!

  1. Ooh, tags are fun! I see you cheated a lot, but I can't blame you too bad because I so would have as well. I can see a few questions here that I would answer the same. I love to hate on The Selection even though I haven't even read it (is that fair?), but I just can't deal with romances trying to disguise themselves as dystopians! And yes, I cannot stand the Pushing the Limit series covers (or really any covers that feature couples being couple-y when they look so cheesy). Heh, funny that The Giving Tree made you the angriest! My answer would probably be Fifty Shades of Grey, which I read on a sort of dare and I thought at least would be entertaining in a make-fun-of-it kind of way, but really just made me FURIOUS with the abundant misogyny present therein.... grrrr, that WOULD be a crap present to receive.

  2. OMG I love Wuthering Heights too.

I recently bought the Jane Eyre audio!

And I am SOoooooo with you on hating The Giving Tree. It should be called, "The Selfish Little Boy." Poor tree!

  4. I LOVE your selection of books you couldn't live without. The Kite Runner and The Book Thief definitely made me cry too, and I plan to finally pick up A Monster Calls next month. Definitely excited about it. :) And hee! Jennifer Armentrout's books have lost their appeal to me story-wise, but I still can't seem to get enough of her romances. She does make them quite addictive. ;)

  5. Haha I love to hate The Selection too. I actually haven't read it but from what it sounds like, it really doesn't hold a lot of appeal to me.
I still need to read A Monster Calls! I DO own it now so that's good! :)

  6. Can you really love to hate something you haven't read? ;P Though if you can, then I'm in 100% agreement on that. No way, no how am I reading that series.

And haha I have no interest in reading If He Had Been With Me, A Farewell to Arms, or Fifty Shades of Gray.
Yes those covers for McGarry's books are the worst. So cheesy lol.
And yay for Jane Eyre love! I should do a re-read of that pretty soon myself.
Anyway, glad to read your answers. I shall post my own version of this shortly.
